Altar

March 3, 2009

I have no heart
to offer, anymore
it was lost, there
on other shores
where I never should have been.

So away the anchor,
and on in the storm
in hopes of my ship wrecking
on something more than my own
dreams, which are far too small;
like a bird in a thunderstorm
overpowered by what is:
becoming what is not.

If my heart should ever return
I shall leave it no more,
save on that altar where
you call your children all to go.
