Who Sing The Sun in Flight

February 18, 2009

Come, oh wonder-dark,
with your wide heaven spaces
and deep, waiting stars!
Come, you silent evening song,
sung to tell my heart.

We sing the sun in flight,
tonight, as he kisses horizon lines.
We dream deep of the moon and fire
and of the love of making life.
For we are the wild men;
born of open spaces,
freed once-captives,
now walking upon the wires.

Come love! Come fear!
We will drink all your wrath.
Come, you strong and fearsome God,
to drown us in your paths!
